CS Coastal Hub Workshop - Using AI and Machine Learning with the Micro bits
This workshop applies PBL and design thinking and explores how to integrate AI and machine learning into middle school classrooms using the BBC Micro:bit. Educators will train micro:bits to recognize gestures, classify movements, and use Microsoft MakeCode to program AI-generated responses. The session covers radio training techniques, data analysis, and ethical considerations of AI, with hands-on activities that support Computing Systems (8.1.8.CS.2) and Data & Analysis (8.1.8.DA.5) standards. Participants will receive project templates, sample code, and student activity guides for immediate classroom use.
