CS Coastal Hub Workshop - Think It, Make It, Makey It!
This hands-on workshop introduces educators in grades 4 and up to Makey Makey as an engaging tool for teaching the New Jersey Student Learning Standards for Computer Science and Design Thinking (NJSLS-CS). Participants will explore how everyday objects can be transformed into interactive inputs, allowing students to design and prototype creative computing projects while building foundational skills in algorithms, inputs/outputs, and problem-solving.
Through guided activities and classroom-ready examples, educators will learn how to integrate Makey Makey into cross-curricular lessons that promote computational thinking, creativity, and collaboration. The session emphasizes alignment to NJSLS-CS practices, including design iteration, debugging, and ethical use of technology, ensuring participants leave with practical strategies to support meaningful computer science learning in their classrooms.
