Date: Tuesday, October 28, 2025
Format: In-Person Wetlands Institute, Stone Harbor
Time: 9:00am - 12:00pm

Join The Wetlands Institute for a hands-on, feet-wet professional development opportunity exploring the effect climate change is having on local salt marsh ecosystems. Educators will hit the trail to conduct a series of activities including water quality and soil testing, seining, and biodiversity studies to better understand how changing environmental factors impact wetland plants and animals.

Participants will have a unique chance to observe first-hand the Scotch Bonnet Marsh Enhancement, a collaborative effort by local and national scientist to restore marshes and address sea level rise right here at The Wetlands Institute. Classroom adaptations of the activities will be discussed, and breakout sessions will allow educators to further adapt the concepts to the classroom.

Please note: This workshop is intended for teachers from New Jersey Public Schools. All CCLC workshops are available at no cost but pre-registration is required. When teachers attend programming during the school day, schools will be reimbursed for the cost of substitutes.
