This hands-on workshop empowers K–12 educators to design engaging, place-based lesson plans that use the schoolyard as a dynamic learning environment for teaching climate change. Participants will explore strategies to explore the schoolyard environment and consider its possibilities as a learning environment for outdoor, inquiry-drive activities. Attendees will learn about the challenges and rewards that can be found in taking their students beyond the classroom walls to learn about environmental stewardship.

During the last half of the workshop we will drive to Mr. B's Backyard Classroom on Reeds Road (between Reeds Road Elementary & Galloway Township Middle School) in Galloway Township. Here you will see the outdoor environmental classroom established in 2010 and described in the workshop.

Please note: This workshop is intended for PK-12 teachers from New Jersey Public Schools. All CCLC workshops are available at no cost but pre-registration is required. Teacher stipends may be available for workshops occurring after the end of the school day.
